Anything More Than the Truth

“Anything more than the truth would be too much.”
— Robert Frost

The biggest obstacle we must learn to overcome when we step into the round pen is our self. The horse demands nothing of us but complete integrity. He asks that we clear our minds and forsake our daily agenda.

If we’re frustrated, impatient, or absent-minded, he knows it a heartbeat. When our thoughts drift, he feels our focus fracture. He laughs at our pathetic efforts to hide it or downright lie about it to ourselves. He just waits us out. Whenever we are ready to face the truth, the horse turns to face us. What a marvelous friend who know us well enough to see us so honestly.
